HOW THE PANDEMIC HAS TRANSFORMED THE WAY EMPLOYERS HIRE

It is no secret that the Covid-19 pandemic has created waves in the professional world as millions continue to experience layoffs, furloughs and lessened hours. The recently unemployed are scrambling to find new roles but for many, the uncertain times have presented an unfortunate roadblock.

In recent months we’ve seen particular industries such as hospitality and travel demolished by the health crisis. Dissimilarly, grocers and larger chain companies stocking home essentials are on the rise. Many job seekers have recognized these shifts are now wondering if a career pivot is necessary to restoring their way of life. Recruiting specialist, Jack Whatley, told Forbs, “The fallout will fundamentally change recruiting and hiring practices long after the pandemic has passed.”

While business leaders are striving to rethink their company layout, they’re considering new ways of approaching the recruitment process. With employers looking to fill their newly vacant roles, they’ve found a unique opportunity to use strategic recruitment methods moving forward.

In her article, “Reinventing Your Career in the Time of Coronavirus”, Harvard Business Review writer, Herminia Ibarra, speaks to how the pandemic could potentially benefit employees as well as the employers. She explains how the market shifts have pushed individuals to stray from their comfort zone and explore new paths within their skill sets. Ibarra writes, “As part of a webinar I teach on career reinvention, I recently conducted an online poll asking participants to describe how they’re responding to the coronavirus crisis, and 50% of the 2000 people who responded reported that it has given them “opportunities to try new things or learn new skills.” In some cases, these new skills are directly related to working remotely.”

Forbes contributor, Garrett Gunderson, interviewed business tycoon and social media influencer Grant Cardone about his struggles with finding a path while unemployed. Cardone explains”, I started studying sales. Reading, learning and next thing you know, I’m good at sales. What’s crazy is the thing I hated became the gateway to the rest of my life.”

Leaders have not only recognized the new pool of outstanding talent, but also their accessibility. For many industries, including technology, offices may become a thing of the past while remote work propels forward. Recruiters have begun reaching out to talented individuals worldwide for roles they can do virtually. This permanent shift in recruiting techniques opens employers up to higher quality talent.

CNN reports, More than two-thirds (68%) of large company CEOs plan to downsize their office space, according to a survey released by KPMG.” The CNN business reporter, Matt Egan goes on to explain, “The pandemic is proving employees don't need to work in cubicles to be successful.”

Are employers outsourcing their recruitment representatives as well? It is very likely! Remote recruiters maintain a global reach and versatility that many have found employment agencies don’t. In a time where companies are looking to recruit the best and brightest from around the world, utilizing recruiters who are adaptable is essential.

Remote recruiters offer much more than just versatility and a wide reach. There are many reasons these talent hiring specialists are often turned to. Remote recruiters can often save companies money. While HR representatives will commonly earn an annual salary, remote recruitment specialists will often work on an hourly bases, only when needed. These specialists are often skilled in discovering hidden gems and matching them with an employer. Remote recruiters save you time and allow you to focus on other affairs. Due to these reasons, companies are beginning to acknowledge the benefits of working with the best recruitment agency in Singapore.

While the professional world continues to shift and remote work becomes more mainstream, we can expect changes in all facets of the space. Forward thinking methods of operating will always beat out what has been historically practiced. Workers who show versatility in the marketplace are the future of the professional world.
